A superb day! Start to finish I really enjoyed the course. The run around riverside park and running through the Saints football stadium was pretty awesome. The itchen bridge was a bit gruelling with a an incline starting after the stadium for a while and the run to the finish line was tough but a challenge! The mile markers were not that obvious for the half marathon? But it didn't matter too much as the atmosphere was great!

Thoroughly enjoyable, and much better organised than last year. Great support all the way around, and the decision to switch directions was the right one. Now my PB too!

I really enjoyed the run, and thought the route this year was alot nicer, alhough, having itchen bridge towards the end wa hard going. I was a bit disappointed with the amount of water points, not enough

Really great day, well organised and most things were clearly signed. The bag drop was fantastic.

Think I prefer it clockwise like this year rather than anti clockwise. Well organised. Third time i have done the half but to do two laps for the full would bore the pants off of me if honest

Another excellent event. Brilliant mile markers and entertainment all the way round.
Preferred the old route much more as the bridge at the end was too much, but I suppose the same could be said of 2times by Ernest Road otherwise.
Water stations well manned but very short on gels, also the bottle caps everywhere were dangerous, although the bottles are much preffered than cups.
Love the new teams shirts a and medals, but the fun run ones had run out of adult ones and we had one of the last small child's ones, and there was loads of people still behind us.
I've attended a few races now but none have the atmosphere of this one, up to the finish line was incredible noise, I don't think I'll ever forget that! Looking forward to next year, but I think it will be back to the half for me. Cheers.

An excellent event , which I really enjoyed and fantastic to see so many people taking part.

However you need a wider starting road and a wider 1st 1km , to allow for passing people who have started too far forward and aren't running at the correct pace for that starting position. I was completely boxed in for the 1st km by slower runners who shouldn't have formed up ahead of me. You need to get your pacers to hold on to their time flags for longer, I saw guys ditching them and then walking up through the crowd which is probably why 100s of people formed up far to far forward for their pace.
The other issue was that the last 3-4km of my half marathon was blighted by the 10k course merging in and lots of slow 10km runners causing the fast half marathon finishers a lot of problems with the latter stage of their race. ( Really hard to pass them across Itchen bridge and from there to the finish). Also you have spent 17km flying with fast runners to then be swamped by hemmed in by slow runners which slow you right down and aren't in the same race.

Could the 10km start earlier to help avoid this ?

The net result of the slow hemmed in start with hundreds of slow people ahead of me that I couldn't pass for 1km and the slow 10km finishers cost me time and meant that I just but only just failed to achieve my lifetime goal of under 1hr30mfinishing by just 16secs.

I had a fantastic time but felt it essential to give you this feedback. thanks

I ran the 10k and was not overly inspired by the route. There were three times it simply looped back on itself - around The Dell, to the Jury's Rounderbout, and the Itchen Bridge. Also running through the underpass to Northam and down St Marys not very pleasant! The Itchen Bridge needs to be done earlier as by this point many people simply walked as they found it too tough.

I would recommend over the Bridge first then up through the common and back to the start for next year pls!

The start was also very disorganised and there was no warmup (that I could see?) but the race village was well organised and that is really appreciated the end of a run. Thanks!

An extremely well organised race. Well supported by the local community. The course was much more attractive and interesting than I expected. The four crossings of the Itchen Bridge--especially the two towards the end--provided nice drama by concentrating the pack of runners.

I really enjoyed the half marathon, I had been looking forward to it for sometime. My Daughter is at Uni in Southampton and we've visited a number of times (shopping centre etc!), so it was good to visit some new areas of the town. I did like running through the parks and along by the 'Itchen'. However, I hadn't realised just how hilly Southampton is, perhaps some mention could be made of this on the website for future entrants! ( I would have included some quality hill work in my training). I thought the run was well organised with enthusiastic marshalls and I felt I had earned the great 'T' shirt and medal.

I Ran the half marathon and the only issue I have is on itchen bridge. The faster Runners of the half marathon got caught up with allot of the slower Runners of the 10k. You had to keep weaving in and out of them this made you slow down and lose some time on the bridge.

A very enjoyable event and a marathon PB by over 15 minutes ! Thank-you. The only improvement I would suggest is signage and better marshal instructions asking half marathon runners to keep left when they are being overtaken by marathon runners. It wasn't a huge issue and in no way affected my enjoyment or time. Everyone was very supportive and encouraging of each other. A great event that I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

Very much enjoyed the day and the race. I had traveled from Sussex for the weekend and it was my first time in Southampton. The route was great and a real tour of the city. The start and finish area was real easy to get to and the bike storage was great. All the supporters were fantastic, so many of them! A great experience and I will definitely be coming back next year :)

There were no hydration stations on route until after the bridge which was only 1 - 2k from the end (of the 10k), and it was a sunny day. I was getting quite dizzy on the bridge.

There were no km markers visible other than the 4k sign. And general signs were lacking; I heard some people got lost and never finished.

It seemed weird to give very dehydrated people beer on the finish line but it was very good beer!

I did enjoy the day though. Will be doing it again next year.
